Think about the world that exists today. Now, take a moment to think about the world as it was one week before Christmas in 2019. It’s safe to say that a lot has changed since then. Society has endured multiple variants of COVID-19, a U.S. presidential election and the beginning of a war between Ukraine and Russia. With all that has unfolded, one thing has stayed the same. Top Gun: Maverick has not yet hit theaters.
Years after the film was originally scheduled for release, it appears that Top Gun: Maverick will hit theaters during Memorial Day Weekend. In the latest installment of the Top Gun saga, Tom Cruise returns to the skies for a story unlike anything seen before.
“After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him,” the synopsis reads.
“When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: ‘Rooster,’ the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka ‘Goose.'”
Top Gun: Maverick will hit theaters on May 27, 2022. Check out the trailer below.
