THE ALTERNATE COLLECTION
30 years ago, Michael Jordan shocked the world by unveiling exclusive colored-up performance footwear on the hardwood. His bold, instantly recognizable shoes sparked a worldwide craze. Presently known as player exclusives, these unique on-court color ways are highly prized by athletes and collectors alike.
Easily my second favorite, the ‘Alternate’ collection features three new colorways for some familiar silhouettes. While the ‘Poster’ collection is first and ‘Dunk From Above’ is third there could have been some rearranging for favorites if some minor changes were made.
Case in point this collection features the Air Jordan 2 ’87’ which is great no complaints here, then the Air Jordan 4 ’89’ which we have seen some weeks back and the buzz for 2016 releases went through the roof. Again, no complaints here. Enters the black sheep, the Air Jordan 5 ’90’. The colorway looks great but I am not that big of a fan the low cut version of the 5s, just doesn’t work for me.
So check out the pictures and unveiling information below and let us know down in the comments if these are a DEF Cop or DEF Not for you guys. Which is your favorite?
As a celebration of the Air Jordan Franchise’s 30th Anniversary, the brand unveils three retro silhouettes that stem from this phenomenon and posit what Jordan’s player exclusive footwear would look like. The Air Jordan II, Air Jordan IV and Air Jordan V Low incorporate colors consistent with the Chicago-based team Jordan played for during his early years in the league.
