After some speculation, former Denver Broncos player and executive has announced that he is no longer with the franchise. His contract with the Broncos ran out on March 15th and was not renewed. Elway played for the team for 16 seasons and spent over a decade in the front office as an executive for the team. Last offseason the team changed ownership and some changes in the front office are expected to occur when that happens. Denver also hired a new Head Coach when they reached an agreement with former New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton.
Denver Broncos legend John Elway confirmed to 9News in Denver that he is no longer with the franchise after the expiration of his contract on March 15.

John Elway said the following when talking about his status with the Denver Broncos: “I’ve enjoyed the relationship with the Broncos for a long, long time. I told Greg I’d be happy to be a resource for him and help in any way that I can. I just wanted the flexibility. They’re in great hands. I still plan on being around to watch and be a resource for Greg Penner or general manager George Paton if I can.”
The Denver Broncos parting with John Elway seems to be amicable and the two sides seem willing to continue to work together when the chance comes up. Elway’s next step is unclear, but his legacy with Denver will always be remembered.
