Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid is listed as doubtful for the team’s game one matchup against the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2023 NFL Playoffs. According to the team, he is also not a guarantee to play in game two of the series as well. Head Coach Doc Rivers broke the news at a team press conference and it comes as the team continues to prepare for the defending Eastern Conference Champions. Embiid has battled injuries in the past and this one comes at one of the worst times in his NBA career as he and the team are hoping to compete for an NBA Championship.

This year during the regular season with the Philadelphia 76ers, Joel Embiid averaged 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.7 blocks, and one steal per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 54.8 percent and a three-point percentage of 33 percent. Embiid is one of the favorites to win the MVP award this offseason and without him, Philadelphia could be in serious trouble against the Boston Celtics. The hope is they will at the worst be able to get Embiid back for the team’s first home game of the series during game three. They will need their star big man to win this series.
