Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be without its namesake for the time being. On Tuesday evening, the late-night variety show host announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, he will not be able to tape shows in-studio. In his absence, Andy Samberg and John Mulaney will step in as temporary hosts.
“I’m such a positive person, I tested positive again,” he stated.
“I am feeling fine – the great John Mulaney [and] Andy Samberg have graciously agreed to host Jimmy Kimmel Live! for me tomorrow.”
Despite his recent COVID-19 diagnosis, Kimmel was able to host Disney’s upfront presentations via Zoom. During his appearance, he joked about testing positive for the second time.
“We just want you to spend your money with us, and if you don’t, I will have died of COVID for no reason,” he joked.
Remaining in good spirits, Kimmel expects to return to his normal duties as the show’s host in the coming days.
