Former Detroit Lions Head Coach Jim Caldwell said he doesn’t plan to pursue another job as a Head Coach in his NFL career. This offseason Caldwell accepted a position as a senior assistant for the Carolina Panthers. He has been the Head Coach of both the Indianapolis Colts and the Detroit Lions in his NFL career. Caldwell has also served in several other positions for several NFL franchises. While he has interviewed for jobs since being fired by the Lions, he has not landed one of those positions as a Head Coach.
68 year old Jim Caldwell in his two head coaching stints: took the Colts to the Super Bowl (lost to Saints) and he took the Lions to their last two playoff appearances.
Only had two losing records in three years with the Colts and four years with the Lions.

Jim Caldwell said the following when being interviewed: “Right now, the only job that I’m concerned about is the job I do here, right here and now. I’m not worried about the future or anything else. I don’t plan on being a head coach from this point forward. When I didn’t get a head-coaching job, I immediately sort of changed the plan in terms of what I was looking for next. I knew I was at the stage where I wanted to be back in the building somewhere, and so, I did have some opportunities to kind of look at, and I was happy when Frank called.”
In his career as a Head Coach for the Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions, Jim Caldwell led his team to an overall record of 62-50 and an NFL Playoff record of 2-4. While the future is uncertain it seems that Caldwell is done looking for jobs as a Head Coach in the NFL.
