Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez is looking to make another run at “Fighter of the Year” honors in 2023. To kick off his latest campaign, Rodriguez will challenge Cristian Gonzalez for the vacant WBO Flyweight Championship. Set to air on DAZN, the bout will take place April 8, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas at a venue to be determined.
At 22 years old, Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez is one of the brightest young stars in the sport of boxing. Last year, he picked up his first world title after beating Carlos Cuadras by a unanimous decision. Then, he followed up his victory against Cuadras with wins against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Israel González to close out the year. In 2023, he’ll have an opportunity to build upon his progress by picking up the first 112-pound title of his blossoming career.
Standing in Rodriguez’s way, Cristian Gonzalez hopes to claim the first world title of his young career as well. At 23 years old, he holds a record of 15-1 with five knockouts. In order to win his first world title, he must fight outside of Mexico for the first time in his career.
