The newly established Overtime Elite has signed 2022 Top Ten Recruit and Top Ten point guard Jazian Gortman. He will skip college basketball and head immediately to play professional basketball. The reported deal for Gortman to join Overtime Elite is worth 650,000 dollars. This has been a growing trend for high school athletes to forgo college and sign overseas. The biggest option thus far is the G League Ignite, but the NBL in Australia and Overtime Elite are gaining traction.

Jazian Gortman told @Stadium that he will earn $650K this season from Overtime Elite.
Say what you want, but that’s a lot of money for a high school kid to turn down … https://t.co/poSWDKGoqu

Overtime is still an unproven path to the NBA, but they should have a few names entering the 2022 NBA Draft that could change that. The 2023 NBA Draft will have even more names from Overtime that could potentially prove the new idea is a legitimate option to oppose going to play college basketball. Gortman held offers from schools like the Florida State Seminoles, Alabama Crimson Tide, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, and Miami Hurricanes.

Gortman is a talented point guard and overall he is ranked second in the 2022 recruiting class among point guards. Some rankings even have him as the number one ranked point guard. Gortman is one of the best players that Overtime has signed thus far and he could help bring legitimacy to the league if he’s drafted in the NBA Lottery.
