“Like I said, Jaron [is] in one place. He’s in another. I’m looking for mega fights right now and right now, that’s not a mega fight,” he told Sean Zittlel, formerly of Fight Hype, in November
“I’m looking to fight guys like Canelo. That’s pretty much it…and a rematch with Spence.”
Crawford is set to fight WBA Super Welterweight Champion Israil Madrimov on August 3, but some fans are still holding out hope that he’ll return to fight Ennis sometime next year. If the fight does happen, Ennis is “hungry” to prove that he’s the best. During a recent interview with Kayla Rivera, he said, “Whatever [Crawford] thinks he can do, I can do better.”
“I want to show the world and prove that I…show my skills [and] my ability,” he told Rivera when asked about the possibility of fighting Crawford.
“I feel like I [haven’t] really [gone] into my bag yet. I feel like they haven’t seen the best of me.”
As fans wait for the two to potentially collide in the ring, Ennis will defend his newly acquired IBF title against Avanesyan in Philadelphia on July 13 and Crawford will attempt to dethrone world champion Israil Madrimov on August 3 in Los Angeles.
