Yes, this is happening again. YouTube personality Jake Paul is entering a boxing ring for the fourth time. This time around, he will share the squared circle of truth with former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley. The two fighters met in Los Angeles, California to formally announce the match.
As expected, Paul and Woodley were aggressive and combative during their first joint press conference. Trading insults and answering questions, the two men were sharp and confident as they went toe-to-toe. One of the more interesting portions of the event occurred when the former UFC champion spoke about his plans in boxing if he emerges with a win in September.
“This is an opportunity for me to sprint into the boxing lane,” Woodley said.
“But also, I’m preparing accordingly. I’m preparing if I was fighting Canelo [Alvarez]. I’m training like that right now.”
Woodley is not simply to fight high-profile matches against celebrities and retired boxers. The Ferguson, Missouri native explained that he hopes to fight “real” boxers and contenders.
“I’m gonna be fighting real boxers and they’re going to have a problem to deal with and it’s going to be me,” he added.
“At the end of the day, I’m in boxing right now. He’s my first opponent. This is your first and everybody else’s first chance to watch me box.”
Woodley will kickoff his boxing career at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on August 29 in Cleveland, Ohio. For now, check out the full press conference below.
