Benny The Butcher logged into Instagram on Saturday and shared a bit of exciting news with his fans. While talking to his fans via Instagram Live, he revealed that he had already recorded a mixtape with The LOX’s Jadakiss.
“Yo, [Jadakiss and I] already decided to do the tape. This [was] about a year ago. There’s just so much sh*t going on. That sh*t would be crazy right now,” he said.
Unfortunately, neither Jadakiss nor Benny The Butcher offered more information on the project’s title, potential features or when it would be released. With that said, both New York artists were active throughout the weekend. Leading the way, Benny The Butcher teamed up with Heem, Rick Hyde and DJ Premier to drop the “Times Is Rough” video. Meanwhile, Jadakiss teamed up with Styles P and Sheek Louch to perform at LL Cool J’s Rock The Bells Festival in New York. Throughout the weekend, Ice Cube, Scarface, Lil’ Kim and several other legends took the stage.
“Rock The Bells Festival was everything I believed it could be – we had a whole day of celebrating timeless Hip-Hop culture and the artists that have influenced the world. From the food, to the music and DJs, and to the breakers and art, people came from all over the world to party and create good energy,” LL Cool J said about bringing the festival to his hometown.
“We reminded the world that Hip-Hop culture is not disposable. It’s important that the Kings and Queens of this culture are lifted up so people can recognize the profound impact that Hip-Hop has had on every corner of global culture. We achieved that today.”
