Following his time with the Boston Celtics, the 5’9 point guard has since struggled to find his footing in a league of which he once averaged 28.9 points. Since the 2016-2017 season, Thomas hasn’t played in many games, appearing in only 84 contests.
While the Pelicans currently sit as the 12th ranked team in the Western Conference, a shot at the play-in tournament is possible. Look for the Pelicans to attempt a valiant effort to earn a playoff berth.
In New Orleans’ guard-heavy depth chart, adding another point guard makes for quite the competition. The NBA-roster hungry Thomas has quite the goal of obtaining a roster spot for the duration of the season.
Once upon a time, Thomas captured the attention of fans and critics alike with his explosive scoring at such a stunted height. With another opportunity to play in the NBA, Thomas keeps the dream alive.
Thomas’s career numbers are those of a respectable NBA player. In 525 career games, the undersized point guard averaged 18 points and 5 assists. Time will tell if he can finish the season on an NBA roster.
