The cat is out of the bag. The release that Top Dawg Entertainment teased for May 7 is a new music video from none other than Tenneessee’s own Isaiah Rashad. Rashad will roll out the video for “Lay Up With Ya” with Duke Deuce later tonight, but before that arrives he needed to make a major announcement.
During a recent interview with The Fader, the Top Dawg Entertainment signee shared a few key details about the project. First, he told Jeff Weiss that he has spent much of the last few months in therapy and those experiences come through in his music. Then, he announced that his next album will be called The House Is Burning. Finishing off of his run of announcements, he told the media outlet that the project will arrive next month.
“I just wanted this sh*t to sound fun,” he said about the feel of his next album.
“If I’m sad, people don’t need to be able to tell. And this is probably my most depressing album.”
Weiss goes on to describe the project as his “most complete” album yet. “From The Garden” and “Lay Wit Ya” are also characterized as his first club records. Luckily, we’ll get to hear one of those two songs tonight. Then, we’ll have to wait for another month to get the full body of work.
