The Houston Rockets have reached an agreement with former Boston Celtics Head Coach Ime Udoka to be their next Head Coach. While the franchise considered several candidates, ultimately Udoka became the frontrunner to land the job. Earlier this offseason the Houston Rockets announced that they would not be picking up the fourth-year option on Head Coach Stephen Silas. While Udoka does come with some extra headlines, the Rockets will be hoping he can turn their young core into superstar players. A tall task with the rebuilding team next season.

In his one season as the Head Coach of the Boston Celtics, Ime Udoka led the franchise to an overall record of 51-31. The Celtics made the 2022 NBA Finals where they lost to the Golden State Warriors. Before being suspended and later removed as Head Coach, Udoka looked to be quickly rising as one of the best coaches in the NBA. He has experience coaching young and talented players which the Rockets believe they have on the roster. With a likely top-four draft pick coming in next season, they will be shaping their future for the foreseeable future. Udoka will be tasked with making that future brighter.
