Have you ever met a 13-foot-tall man? If you answered yes, chances are that you should probably talk to someone about that. If not, chances are that you’re about to meet one. Say hello to Cootie! Raised in the Bay Area, Cootie is your normal young, Black man in the Bay Area. Trying to make sense of love, friendship and family, he’s a lot like everyone else his age. He just happens to be about twice their size, which creates a ton of additional problems. Thanks to Boots Riley, Prime Video and a talented cast of actors, Cootie will be able to tell his story through the forthcoming series, I’m A Virgo.
“I’m A Virgo is a darkly comedic fantastical coming-of-age joyride about Cootie, a 13-foot-tall young Black man in Oakland, California. Having grown up hidden away, passing time on a diet of comic books and TV shows, he escapes to experience the beauty and contradictions of the real world. He forms friendships, finds love, navigates awkward situations, and encounters his idol, a real-life superhero named The Hero, played by Walton Goggins. I’m A Virgo is a mythical odyssey that questions the purpose of the mythical odyssey,” the series logline reads.
Led by Boots Riley, Prime Video’s newest series features Jharrel Jerome, Olivia Washington, Brett Gray, Mike Epps, Carmen Ejogo, Allius Barnes and Kara Young. Check out the first official trailer for I’m A Virgo below before it hits Prime Video on June 23.
