Michaela Coel stars in the first trailer for HBO and BBC One’s latest series, I May Destroy You.
“[I May Destroy You is] a fearless, frank and provocative half-hour series exploring the question of sexual consent and where, in the new landscape of dating and relationships, the distinction between liberation and exploitation lies,” HBO states.
“Set in London, where gratification is only an app away, the story centers on Arabella, a carefree, self-assured Londoner with a group of great friends, a boyfriend in Italy, and a burgeoning writing career. But when her drink is spiked with a date-rape drug, she must question and rebuild every element of her life,” the network adds.
Coel will star alongside Adam James, Aml Ameen, Paapa Essiedu, Weruche Opia and Ann Akin. Coel will play the role of Arabella. Opia and Ameen will play Arabella’s best friends Terry Pratchard and Simon Essiedu. Essiedu will play the role of Kwame, who is also Arabella’s friend.
