It would be an understatement to say that a lot is going on in the nation’s capital. From politics to sports and beyond, a million and one things are going on in Washington, D.C. at any given point in time. This Saturday, one million and two things will be going on in the city as major boxing returns to the nation’s capital. On January 7, 2023, WBA Super Featherweight Champion Héctor Luis García will challenge Gervonta “Tank” Davis for the WBA “Regular” Lightweight Championship at Capital One Arena.
“D.C. is a great sports town. They haven’t had a fight in a while so it sort of all made sense to come back under the assumption there’s probably some pent-up demand at not having had a boxing match in quite a while,” Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza said.
Davis and García are not the only stars making their way to Washington, D.C. On Saturday, welterweight contender Jaron “Boots” Ennis will fight for the interim IBF Welterweight Championship and Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade will make his debut at super middleweight. With one day separating fight fans from the big event, Andrade, Ennis, Davis and García are on hand at the Mariott Marquis. Courtesy of Showtime Sports, check out the weigh-ins live below.
