Over the last few weeks, Netflix has caught a bit of unwanted attention for the number of series it has cancelled. Most recently, the streaming giant has cut ties with series such as Jessica Jones, The Punisher and Friends From College. Luckily, the Netflix thriller, The Haunting of Hill House, will not meet the same fate as its former Netflix streaming mates.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, The Haunting of Hill House will return for a second season. The report states, “The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan and his longtime Intrepid Pictures partner, Trevor Macy, have signed a big overall deal with Netflix that includes a second season of the anthology.” Sources close to the report say that the new deal is worth eight figures and will last four or five years.
Shortly after releasing the initial report, The Hollywood Reporter followed up with a second story detailing the particulars of the new season. The second season will return in 2020 and will be under the title, The Haunting of Bly Manor. The report states, “Much as the first season drew inspiration from Shirley Jackson’s famous The Haunting of Hill House novel, Bly Manor takes on a different story altogether: Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw.”
