Miami Heat star big man Hassan Whiteside recently voiced his displeasure with the Heat training staff of a mysterious knee ailment. Whiteside had been suffering from some knee discomfort recently. After missing five of the first six games, he returned to the team but his performance was up and down as the season went on.
Last night he missed the Heat game in New York against the Knicks and it appears that he finally has some answers. A bone bruise in his left knee will sideline the fringe all-star big man for one to two weeks.
The Miami Heat announced the news on Thursday evening.
The Miami HEAT announced today that center Hassan Whiteside will begin rehab immediately due to a left knee bone bruise. The rehab process will include a strength and conditioning program over the next one-to-two weeks.
Whiteside has appeared in 15 games this season averaging 14.9 points, 12.7 rebounds, 1.60 blocks, 1.07 steals and 26.8 minutes while shooting 58.1 percent from the field. If he return to prime Whiteside form and gets some of his averages up while leading the Heat to a respectible record heading into January, you should expect to see Hassan Whiteside on an NBA All-Star team.
