Hassan Whiteside has been dealing with knee pain since the early part of the season, causing him to miss five games back in October. Whiteside since has been available for every game up until he missed Wednesday’s game against the New York Knicks because of knee pain.
The 27-year-old big man, according to Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel, thinks his pain is much more “serious” than he’s being told.
Following from Ira Winderman,
Whiteside says his knee is a serious issue, says the Heat medical staff needs to get to bottom of his ongoing pain.

“It’s really bothering me, man,” Whiteside said at his locker at Madison Square Garden. “We’re going to figure it out. We’re going to figure it out when we get back to Miami and figure out what’s wrong.”
Whiteside says that the injury continues to nag him, long after the issue was expected to have been remedied. According to Winderman, there wasn’t a timetable set for when the pain would no longer be an issue.
“Nah, there wasn’t a time on it,” he said. “You know, I sat out, I missed them games, I came back, and it’s still bothering me.”
This confusion is somewhat of a perplexing case. If Whiteside is continuing to feel discomfort in the injured knee, then there seems to be a disconnect somewhere. Whether between the medical staff and Whiteside or between head coach Erik Spoelstra and the medical staff. Spoelstra says that there isn’t any peculiar about Whiteside’s injury,
“This is part of the process. We anticipated this. It hasn’t gotten any worse, necessarily, just the schedule hasn’t let up and he really hasn’t been able to do two days of work in a row for a while.”
After Whiteside returned to action following the October 18 injury, he was uncertain of why he wasn’t playing a full minutes load. The five-year center claimed that he didn’t “really know what’s going on.”
Can someone please fill Whiteside in on some details, please?
