Looks like Hailee Steinfeld is joining the MCU. According to Variety, the actress has been offered the lead role in Marvel’s upcoming Hawkeye series.
If Steinfeld agrees to the terms, she will be portraying Kate Bishop in the upcoming series. In the comics, Bishop is a young woman who replaced Clint Barton as Hawkeye after he retired. Bishop is also a member of the Young Avengers team in the comics, a film about the young team has been rumored to be in the pipeline for some time. Jeremy Renner was previously confirmed to be reprising his role as Barton and the series will see him training Steinfeld’s Bishop.
Steinfeld recently appeared in last year’s surprisingly good Bumblebee. She’s also been mostly held in high regard since her film debut in the Coen brothers’ True Grit 2010 remake. The actress has also had a successful music career with multiple multi-platinum-selling songs under her belt. Steinfeld is set to appear next in Apple’s Dickinson series later this fall. In Dickinson Steinfeld stars as the titular poet in a coming-of-age tale about Emily Dickinson’s life as a young woman.
Hawkeye is set to hit Disney+ sometime in fall 2020.
