Godfather of Harlem is set to return in April 2021. This time around, there will be a few new faces. Actress Grace Porter will portray Betty Shabazz alongside Nigel Thatch, who will play Malcolm X. In the show’s upcoming season, Whitaker will revive his role as Bumpy Johnson as he attempts to regain control of Harlem. Alongside Porter, Thatch and Whitaker, Vincent D’Onofrio, Giancarlo Esposito, Ilfenesh Hadera, Markuann Smith, Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Paul Sorvino will appear in the show’s new season.

“Season 2 will see Bumpy continue his struggle to reclaim command over Harlem from the Italian mobsters by attempting to seed internal discord and sever their vital heroin pipeline,” EPIX writes.

“Meanwhile, Malcolm X will be forced to choose between violent and nonviolent response to the near-constant threats to his life and his relationship with Bumpy will be severely tested.”

Porter is a relatively young actress who has made appearances in Madame Secretary and Prodigal Son. She also recently graduated from New York University’s Tisch School.
