Joet Gonzalez is expected to challenge Luis Alberto Lopez for the IBF Featherweight Championship in Corpus Christi, Texas on September 15, 2023.
Gonzalez enters the ring as he pushes through an interesting point in his career. He started his career with 23 consecutive victories before suffering his first loss at the hands of Shakur Stevenson. Since then, he has suffered losses at the hands of Emanuel Navarrete and Issac Dogboe, but he has also picked up wins against Miguel Marriaga, Jeo Santisima and Enrique Vivas. Now, he’ll look to win his first world title against Luis Alberto Lopez.
Luis Alberto Lopez endured two losses in his first 19 fights, but he has won 11 straight fights over four years. Most recently, he won his first world title by defeating Josh Warrington in Leeds, England last December. Months later, he returned with a stoppage victory against Michael Conlan in Northern Ireland in May. He will continue his world tour as he battles Joet Gonzalez in Texas on ESPN.
