It’s a good time to be a fan of the Golden State Warriors, and an even better time to own the team. I’m sure that Warriors’ co-owner Peter Guber would tell you the same thing. The team is favored to win the title for their second year in a row, and is nationally beloved. Sales are through the roof in probably every category.
Today, it was announced that the Warriors’ new arena, set to open in 2019, will be called Chase Arena. Guber has faith that the Oracle Arena hasn’t seen the last of its championship games.
Peter Guber: "Steph Curry will be a world champion many times between now and then" when Chase Center opens.

Wow. The key word in that quote is “many.” How many is many? Realistically, if the Warriors win this year, and the next 3 years before they move(not likely, but I’m not going to rule it out given how dominant this team is), Curry would have 5 championships. That would quantify as “many,” I would say. Does Guber expect to five-peat? Maybe just three or four-peat? I would say Curry needs at least 3 championships for one to say “many.” That would mean winning this year and next, at the very least. Warriors fans can feel pretty great about their odds this year, but you never know. And the layout of the league could look quite different next year, as players like Kevin Durant, LeBron James(very unlikely), Andre Drummond(unlikely), Al Horford, Nicolas Batum, Mike Conley, Rajon Rondo, Al Jefferson, and others could end up on other teams. It’s hard to predict a championship if you don’t know who your competiiotn is.
With that being said, the Warriors seem to have all the makings of a dynasty, and Guber’s comment might not be as big a stretch as it may seem.
