Milwaukee Bucks star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is headed to New York to undergo further testing on his injured right wrist. He originally injured his wrist when going for a block in the team’s 112-100 win over the Chicago Bulls last Thursday. Antetokounmpo captained his team during the 2023 All-Star game but played just 20 seconds due to a lingering wrist injury. He committed an intentional foul and left the game. Team Giannis went on to beat Team Lebron 184-175 in the 2023 All-Star Game. Lebron James also left that game due to a hand injury and did not return.

This season with the Milwaukee Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo is averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game. He has paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 53.8 percent and a three-point percentage of 27 percent. The team is a contender for the NBA Championship this season and is expected to be the biggest challenge to the Boston Celtics’ goal of returning to the NBA Finals. Milwaukee is currently second in the Eastern Conference Standings with an overall record of 41-17.
The news from the specialist in New York could greatly impact not only the Eastern Conference Playoff race, but also the race for MVP. As things stand right now, Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the biggest threats to Nikola Jokic who is looking to three-peat as the league’s MVP. The hope is the injury is not very serious and the team will get their star back quickly. We here at Def Pen Sports wish him the best in his recovery and hopefully quick return to the court.
