The Milwaukee Bucks have been a mild surprise this season. Despite not having starting shooting guard Khris Middleton, the team is a mildly impressive 5-6 on the year.
Part of that success, at least according to forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, has been recent free agent acquisition Matthew Dellavedova. The Greek Freak spoke to NBA Australia about his new teammate.
“Definitely the combination is coming along because Matthew is the best teammate I have ever played with in these four years,” Antetokounmpo told NBA Australia.
“He always wants to get in the pick-and-roll, everything he does he wants to get it right.”
“He’s a willing passer, Giannis said of Dellavedova.
“So he makes it a lot easier, so I think we can get a lot better.
“But I think we have great connection and it’s helping the team.”
Looking at the numbers, Delly has not been very good. He has been an inefficient scorer, to say the least. But sometimes, just having that point guard presence can really help a team. Delly is providing 6.3 assists per game, helping Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks get easier shots. That’s not something that Milwaukee had last season. Delly’s presence as a secondary playmaker around Giannis is a welcome sight to Bucks’ fans.
