2023 number one recruit GG Jackson has made it official with his commitment to the South Carolina Gamecocks. He will also reclassify to the 2022 recruiting class and enroll in the school this fall. Jackson was originally committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels to play in 2023 and expressed no interest in reclassifying. North Carolina filled their open spot with Northwestern transfer Pete Nance. The top-rated forward began dominating the high school summer circuit and he, along with his camp had a change of heart. Now he will play for his home state program South Carolina and new Head Coach Lamont Paris.
GG Jackson, the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2023 class, has announced his commitment to South Carolina and will reclassify to 2022.
Becomes the highest ranked recruit in program history.

Now that he has reclassified GG Jackson will be eligible to enter the 2023 NBA Draft instead of the 2024 NBA Draft. There is little doubt that the talented forward is NBA-ready and will be a “one and done” talent. His lone year at South Carolina is sure to be full of exciting plays on the court. The rest will be up to first-year Head Coach Lamont Paris and the rest of the roster. Regardless of everything else, Jackson will have an impact on South Carolina and the SEC.
I will like to announce that I will be reclassifying to the class of 2022, committing to the University of South Carolina to further my career and education. NOW LETS HAVE FUN FAMS!??? #HometownHero

GG Jackson will get to play near his home and enter the NBA a year earlier than expected. The South Carolina Gamecocks are attempting to rebuild the program and landing a player like this is a good start. For now, he is the best recruit in the program’s history. The only thing left now is to get to campus and play college basketball.
