Gervonta “Tank” Davis has won the vacant WBA Lightweight Title with a knockout victory against Yuriorkis Gamboa at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Fighting for the first time in Atlanta, Davis dominated the fight with knockdowns in the twelfth, eighth and second round. Gamboa was largely outmatched except for an exceptional combination in the tenth round. Despite the champion’s dominance, it was the longest fight of his career. Davis had won twenty-one of his previous twenty-two fights within nine rounds. Still, his performance captured the attention of the sports world.
Shaquille O’Neal, Casanova, Lil’ Baby and Lil’ Kim were all in attendance for the championship fight. Online, Jemele Hill, Dez Bryant, Tony Jefferson and others offered their approval throughout the night.

Bryant tweeted, “[Gervonta Davis] is baby Tyson.”
Hill added, “On another note, these fights on Showtime have been terrific tonight. Gervonta Davis just rocked Gamboa for the second time.”
Moving forward, Davis will look for more lucrative fights with either Teofimo Lopez or Vasiliy Lomachenko. In the meantime, check out clips of his win above.
