It’s always a good time when The Free Nationals drop new music. Yesterday, the band led by fearless leader, Anderson .Paak came back to streaming services to drop off a new track called “Beauty & Essex”. The brand new song features R&B sensation, Daniel Caesar, alongside Unknown Mortal Orchestra. If you’re unfamiliar with Unknown Mortal Orchestra, you may need to work on that. The Portland based rock band out of New Zealand has been steadily making their presence felt in the states and will soon be dropping their fifth studio album in seven years.
On the new track, “Beauty & Essex”, the trio of musical talents gives you the mesh of smooth vibes that you would expect. First, Daniel Caesar comes through with a smooth intro where he sings, “We both know what this is. I’m just looking for affection. I’m trying to add a piece to my collection.” Midway through the new track, Caesar is given a break for a few bars, but comes back through to finish off the song. Caesar sings, “It smells like sex and flowers. We’ve been going for hours.”
With Anderson’s new album set to drop very soon, it is expected that we can expect more music from The Free Nationals in the near future. Hopefully, the Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Daniel Caesar will also find their way on the album.
