It is with heavy hearts that Hollywood mourn the loss of one of its most consistent faces. Last night, actress Deidre Hall confirmed the death of her longtime friend and co-star, Peggy McCay. In a heartfelt Facebook post, Hall wrote, “Our dearest, Peggy McCay, has left us. She was a friend, an activist and a real scrapper!” Hall also added, “I backed her up as she ferociously took on doctors and nurses to make sure he had the very best care. She fought that hard for all her causes.”
Throughout her storied career, the actress made her mark in television, film and theater. During her nearly seven decade long career, the New York native appeared in Uncle Vanya, The Trials of Rosie O’Neill and Days of Our Lives. Her outstanding talent and work ethic earned her eight Emmy nominations and one Primetime Emmy Award for her work on The Trials of Rosie O’Neill.
McCay is reported to have died from natural causes only a few weeks shy of her 91st birthday. There is no word on when arrangements will be made in her passing. Our prayers and thoughts are with the McCay family in their time of need.
