The first domino has fallen.
The Los Angeles Lakers have made official the dismissal of Head Coach Frank Vogel after a disappointing season where the team finished in the eleventh seed of the Western Conference with a 33-49 record.

Vogel was hired in 2019 to replace Luke Walton on the purple and gold bench and right away he coached the team to the franchise 17th NBA title during the resumed season in the bubble in Orlando. After three seasons, he finished with 127 wins and 98 losses in the regular season.
“I have a tremendous amount of respect for Frank both on and off the court. Frank is a great coach and a good man,” said Rob Pelinka, the Lakers Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager. “We will forever be grateful to him for his work in guiding us to the 2019-20 NBA championship. This is an incredibly difficult decision to make, but one we feel is necessary at this point.”
The Lakers will now conduct an “expansive and lengthy, without a clear-cut front-runner” coaching search according to Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN.
Pelinka will address the media at 12:00 pm PT.
