After the loss of the last member of the Ball family, LaMelo Ball, at Chino Hills High School, the Huskies needed someone else to pick up the torch. That man was the 6’8 center Onyeka Okongwu. After his junior season, Okongwu has decided he wants to play basketball at the University of Southern California after he graduates.

Starting on the varsity team his freshman year at Chino Hills, Okongwu was already getting offers from numerous division one colleges. He also accomplished a perfect season going 35-0, playing alongside LiAngelo, Lonzo, and LaMelo Ball.
Okongwu has been listed as the number one prospect in California coming from the class of 2019 according to 247sports’ list of top high school prospects. Throughout his high school career, Okongwu has shown that he can be very effective on the court. He averages over 10 points per game and has been able to swat back about two blocks per contest.
As it came down to the day of his commitment to a college, the options were few. Leading those options were rival schools UCLA and USC. The Trojans got the last laugh in this debate as they now have another strong presence to push them forward in the future.
