The carousel continues to turn for Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott. Once again the star running back has been suspended.
U.S. District Court Judge Katherine P. Failla denied the NFL Players Association’s request for a preliminary injunction. This marks the second time Elliott’s suspension has been reinstated this season.
In Failla’s report she wrote, “Having negotiated with the NFLPA over the terms of a particular CBA, the NFL has an interest in obtaining the benefit of its bargain — an interest that might well be eroded if courts such as this one were permitted to micromanage the disciplinary decisions of the commissioner.” Basically the court doesn’t want to step on the toes of the commissioner or the NFL.
For the Cowboys this means that they will be without Zeke, for the time being, until week 15. The Cowboys will have to play key games against the Chief, Falcons, and division rival Eagles in his absence. That being said Zeke does still have some legal options that could keep him on the field.
Without Elliott the Cowboys have to rely on second year QB Dak Prescott. Elliott is the main feature of their offense and the Cowboys looked abysmal against the Broncos when he couldn’t get it going in week 2. So far this season Zeke has 690 yards on 164 carries, and 6 TDs this season.
