As you should know the last release from Extra Butter was the Reebok Ventilator “Street Meat” which was inspired by New York City as well. But to take the hometown love even further the New York Islanders are responsible for this Extra Butter x Reebok Ventilator Supreme ‘Dynasty’. A New York icon, Extra Butter believes in teamwork and a championship mentality. Following the success of 2015’s “Street Meat” Ventilator, this spring Extra Butter joins Reebok in partnering up with one of New York sports ?great franchises, the New York Islanders.
Celebrating the New York Islanders inaugural season in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Extra Butter created a project that uses Reebok’s heritage running shoe, the Ventilator Supreme. “As die hard Islanders fans, we were excited for the team’s move into Brooklyn and wanted to share our passion with existing fans, while speaking to new fans with a design that tells the story of the New York Islanders dynasty.” – Jason Faustino (Extra Butter Co-owner/Creative Director)
The “Dynasty” Reebok Ventilator Supreme features details that are part of the iconography of the New York Islanders. Along with the team’s official logo, NHL logo, the shoe boasts quality footwear material such as premium suede and perforated leather mixed with hockey equipment features, such as ballistic nylon and hockey skate laces. The colorway points to the Islanders jersey designs throughout their history, also shown in the traditional jersey color blocking stripes on the mudguard. The design also pays homage to the team’s dynasty years.
In a feat that has yet to be repeated across any major league sport, The New York Islanders won 4 Stanley Cup championships in a row, represented by the 4 Reebok logo stripe pieces in 3m reflective silver and with the years 1980-1983 seen embroidered on the heel. There is also a “740” label hidden inside the tongue, an homage to the late Al Arbour, the team’s dynasty-era, Hall of Fame head coach’s win total.
The Extra Butter x NY Islanders x Reebok Ventilator Supreme will release March 18th &19th at both Extra Butter locations and its online shop, $135 in sizes US Mens 4.5 – 13.
