Eric Weddle came out of retirement for the playoffs and can now call himself a Super Bowl Champion. The starting safety suffered a torn pec during the game but continued to play despite the injury. He will undergo surgery soon to repair it and reiterated that he plans to retire once again from football. During the Super Bowl interview, he was adamant that he would not return to play football again. Still, the decision to come out of retirement helped him and the Rams win Super Bowl LVI.
The machine. Played the entire game after rupturing his pec. Like he said before this. He’ll leave it all on the field and have a lifetime to heal after. Congratulations @weddlesbeard pic.twitter.com/saTZDq3mzT

The Los Angeles Rams asked Eric Weddle to return to the team for the playoffs this year and he agreed. A veteran presence and leader helped them defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in the biggest game of the year. Weddle can now focus on surgery and after that on his next phase of life. An amazing journey and story for the decorated NFL safety.

The Los Angeles Rams made several key additions and traded away plenty of draft picks to win this Super Bowl. Looking back on it now the move was easily worth it for the team to capture a Super Bowl in their home stadium. Eric Weddle was just the last in a long line of key additions that made this happen for the team. We here at Def Pen Sports wish him the best in his recovery and in his life beyond football.
