This is a much-deserved extension for Eric Gordon who has become one of the most dangerous weapons in perhaps the NBA’s premier offensive attack. While many think Houston’s offense is predicated around James Harden and hero ball, Gordon has quietly been one of the most effective perimeter scorers in recent years.
Not only have Gordon’s numbers been there, but his playstyle fits in perfectly with what Houston is trying to accomplish. A gifted spot-up shooter with a clean outside stroke, Gordon is an aggressive scorer off the bench and has provided Harden with a dependable second option.
Now Gordon gets another major payday with his latest contract extension. Gordon has overcome a lot in his 11-year NBA career, especially when it came to injury early on. While he still struggles to stay healthy occasionally, this is a well-earned extension for Eric Gordon. With Russell Westbrook now around, the Rockets are hoping this is the year they can finally break through to the NBA Finals.
