Will Wade added to his strong 2020 class today by getting a commitment from 4-star guard Eric Gaines. Gaines picked the Tigers thanks to a good relationship with the coaching staff and current players on the team. He said in an interview with Evan Daniels ” I just made me feel like I was back home”. Gaines will join Cameron Thomas, Mwani Wilkinson, Jalen Cook and Bradley Ezewiro for LSU’s 2020 class. The Tigers will also add Georgetown transfer Josh LeBlanc and UCLA transfer Shareef O’Neal for next year’s roster. This is a strong class for the Tigers and Will Wade has done a great job filling needs for next year. LSU currently sits with the sixth-best class in 2020 and the third-best in the SEC per 247 Sports.
What Eric Gaines Will Bring to LSU
Eric Gaines is a 6’3 guard out of Lithonia Georgia, who had seen his stock rise quickly over the past few months. Scouts have sighted Gaines’ size, length, and athleticism as his strongest qualities. His court vision and passing ability have also been lauded. Gaines has also shown he can score at all three levels, though his efficiency is far from perfect. He will also need to gain some weight and strength, but with a college training staff, this shouldn’t be a problem for long. There is also hope that with Gaines’s athleticism and size he will become a strong defender. Gaines has a ton of upside and with some time spent with a college training regimen, he should become a quality starter for the Tigers.
