The Carolina Panthers have hired Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero for the same position heading into the 2023 NFL season. With Sean Payton taking over as the Head Coach of the Denver Broncos, a new coaching staff will be following him to the franchise. The Panthers hired Frank Reich as their next Head Coach over interim Head Coach and defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. With Wilks seeking to join another franchise, the Panthers began a search for a new defensive coordinator and Evero quickly emerged as a top candidate for the team.

Last year with the Denver Broncos, Ejiro Evero served as the defensive coordinator in his first season in the position. He served in different roles with UC Davis, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the University of Redlands, the San Francisco 49ers, the Green Bay Packers, and the Los Angeles Rams. The Denver Broncos were a top defensive unit last season under the leadership of the first-year defensive coordinator. Carolina is attempting to build a contending team with its young and talented defensive unit.
The Denver Broncos moved on from the up-and-coming defensive coordinator and just a day later the Carolina Panthers hired Ejiro Evero to the open position. Steve Wilks is set to interview with the San Francisco 49ers and is considered a top choice for their defensive coordinator position.
