After tons of speculation that DC and Warner Brothers may slow down their production process on future projects, due to the criticism of the recent superhero movies Batman vs. Superman and Suicide Squad, Warner Brothers will push on with one of it’s rumoured projects, a Justice League Dark movie. After confirming that the Green Lantern Corps will also be arriving to the big screen in the second Justice League movie and later on have its own installment in 2020, DC and Warner Brothers has announced their choice to Direct the upcoming untitled Justice League Dark Movie.
Doug Liman, who is most known for his work directing the Tom Cruise action movie ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and his work on the ‘Bourne Identity’ franchise, is now taking the helm of DC comic’s most unheard of superheroes and villains. According to Dan Seitz of Yahoo Movies:
So DC is ramping up with even more movies, and it appears to be dusting off one, Justice League Dark, with Doug Liman, who, uh, was supposed to be making his superhero debut on the Marvel side of the fence with Gambit.
At first, the Justice League Dark movie was supposed to be directed by Hell Boy director Guillermo del Toro, but after things fell out between Marvel and Liman on the Gambit movie, Liman found another suitor in Warner Brothers. Liman has a tough task ahead of him. He will have the challenge of introducing the world of magic in the DC Universe to the big screen. The story will most likely follow the adventures of the team that includes an angry british detective in John Constantine, Justice League member Zatanna, Swamp Thing, and Jason Blood. With all these DC characters set to make their debut, you wonder whether Liman’s interpretations will help propel DC into the right direction.
With no release date scheduled, we can expect the Justice League Dark Movie to land in one of Warner Brother’s untitled scheduled DC movie release dates on October 5th, 2018 or November 1st, 2019. It doesn’t look like DC or Warner Brother will be slowing anything down anytime soon.
