Star Duke freshman Trevon Duval has been suspended for tomorrow’s exhibition game against Bowie State. It has been reported that the suspension was handed down by the team for a violation of team rules and standards.
The reasoning for the suspension is currently disclosed, and it appears to be just for the one game. Unfortunately for Duke that one game is the team’s final exhibition game before the team takes on the regular season.
With a Champions Classic matchup against #2 Michigan State looming quickly, this young Duke team needs as much time on the court together as possible. Duval is one of four freshmen in Duke’s starting lineup; so any lost experience is critical for this Blue Devils team.
Trevon Duval is Duke’s only real point guard that they have on the team, and he did a swell job orchestrating the Blue Devil’s offense in their first scrimmage against Northwest Missouri State. While this isn’t the most damaging of issues for Duke, it is a slight blemish on what should be a promising season.
