The Miami Dolphins have acquired linebacker Stephone Anthony from the New Orleans Saints. Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter today.
Trade! The #Dolphins traded for former #Saints LB Stephone Anthony in exchange for a 2018 draft pick. Helps with the Timmons suspension

This move has to be a response to the Lawrence Timmons situation. Timmons was suspended earlier today for missing the Dolphins game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. It is still unclear as to why Timmons missed the game. The Dolphins would go on to win the game 19-17.
With Timmons as an uncertainty, Anthony is a solid addition to the Dolphins linebacking core. The former Clemson Tiger played two years with the Saints. He recorded a total of 128 combined tackles and one sack. He was placed on the injured reserve on December 20 last season, ending his chances of playing in 2016.
The Dolphins will need all the help they can get on defense. They were near the bottom of this list of defenses, especially in run defense. Anthony can provide a good answer to fill the hole Timmons leaves at the linebacker position. Time will tell if Anthony can be the answer, maybe even a long-term answer, for a position the Dolphins desperately need to fill.
