Fifty-four weeks after Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” topped the Billboard Hot 100, “Paint The Town Red” by Doja Cat has been crowned as the first Hip-Hop track to top the charts in 2023. In its fifth week on the prominent chart, the polarizing single made the jump from third place to the top spot.
Doja Cat’s summer single ascends to the top spot less than two weeks before Doja Cat is set to unleash her latest LP, Scarlet. The eccentric emcee’s fourth studio album is expected to include 15 tracks, led by the singles, “Paint The Town Red,” “Attention” and “Demons.” Accompanying the project’s release, the chart-topping artist is set to tour the country with Doechii and Ice Spice. Serving as her first headlining arena tour, The Scarlet Tour will kick off on October 31, 2023 in San Francisco, California and run through December 13, 2023 in Chicago, Illinois.
Before taking off on tour, she will watch the 2023 Video Music Awards. The award-winning emcee is nominated in six categories, including Best Video and Best Artist.
