Dior Johnson was at one point committed to Syracuse, holding that commitment for nine months before he changed his mind last fall. After considering an offer from the NBL that was reportedly over a million dollars he has committed to Oregon. Johnson will now play for Dana Altman who hasn’t secured the services of many point guards with Johnson’s pedigree.
Altman has been excellent in Eugene but hasn’t always brought in the high level, top 10 recruits like Johnson will be for him. This will however mark the second straight recruiting class Altman is bringing in a five-star recruit.

Johnson is very good athlete who is excellent at getting in the lane and scoring or making plays for others. His playmaking ability is what has most who watch him excited. His handle allows him to get wherever he wants to on the basketball court as well as the pace he plays with. Johnson should thrive under Altman in his most likely lone season in Eugene. Payton Pritchard immediately came in as a freshman and was good although he played on a senior-laden roster. It still shows that Altman is more than willing to give his freshman point guard the reigns if they deserve it and earn it.
