North Carolina State Wolfpack quarterback Devin Leary had announced that he will transfer to the Kentucky Wildcats. He was ranked as the number one quarterback in the transfer portal this college football offseason. With Kentucky Wildcats quarterback Will Levis headed to the 2023 NFL Draft, the program needed a starting-caliber quarterback for the 2023 season. Leary will likely get NFL looks next season and be a 2024 NFL Draft prospect. Several schools reached out to the 23-year-old, but Kentucky was the most appealing landing spot for the former Wolfpack quarterback.

In his four-year career with the North Carolina State Wolfpack, Devin Leary completed 568 passes for 6,807 yards, 62 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions on 944 attempts. He also rushed for five touchdowns in his career. Leary was projected to be a top ACC quarterback this past season, but an injury cut his season well short of those goals. That injury also likely prevented him from feeling comfortable declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft. Instead, he will use his final year of eligibility with Kentucky and aim for the 2024 NFL Draft instead.
The Kentucky Wildcats are building a much stronger football program and landing transfer talent like Devin Leary proves that it is working. They will continue to be a good SEC football program and could make some serious noise in the conference next season.
