The deadline for the buyout market is March first and teams will have to make decisions about who is staying and going. Point guard Dennis Schroder is expected to stay with the Houston Rockets for the remainder of the 2021-2022 NBA season. After he was traded to the Rockets from the Boston Celtics the expectation was he would be bought out of his contract and hit free agency. The two sides discussed the option and both decided that they did not favor a buyout.
Dennis Schroder is on course to finish the season in Houston, league sources say.
Neither the Rockets nor Schroder favor a buyout, sources say, with a March 1 deadline looming for any buyout candidate leaguewide to be released to ensure playoff eligibility with his next team.

This move will impact the teams hoping to add Dennis Schroder late in the season. Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers were hoping to sign him after a buyout to make a late push for the 2022 NBA Playoffs. The Houston Rockets will keep the veteran NBA point guard to help mentor their young players and help teach them to win some NBA games. Point guard depth was a problem for the tea this year before the trade.

Dennis Schroder has had some major ups and downs these past few seasons, but hopefully, he can use the rest of the season to figure things out long-term. He desires a long-term deal and maybe he can use this time with the Houston Rockets to prove to the NBA he deserves one. We here at Def Pen Sports will update the status of him and others in the NBA free agency period.
