The tenure of DeMarcus Cousins with the Los Angeles Lakers has so far been disastrous. Following his free agency signing with the Lakers in July, Cousins has since torn his ACL, and is now the subject of a domestic violence controversy.
Following the release of audio by TMZ allegedly featuring DeMarcus Cousins threating to shoot his ex-girlfriend, Christy West, in the head if she didn’t allow their son to attend his wedding, the Mobile, Alabama Municipal Court has now posted a warrant for Cousins’ arrest on charges of misdemeanor domestic violence. The following is from TMZ:
West claims she made the recording while at a trampoline park in Alabama with their 7-year-old son … and she’s adamant the voice on the other line is Cousins’.
“I’m gonna ask you this one more time before I take it to another level,” the man says … “Can I have my son here, please?”
Christy responds, “No” — and that’s when the man makes the alleged threat — “I’m gonna make sure I put a bullet in your f**king head.”
The Lakers have also issued a statement on the allegations against Cousins:
Lakers' statement on the @TMZ_Sports report on DeMarcus Cousins: "We are aware of the allegation involving DeMarcus Cousins and, of course, take this claim seriously. We are in the process of gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time."
