DeMarco Murray was never a fit for the Chip Kelly offense and struggled mightily. This of course was a big change coming from the Cowboys offense where he received 392 carries the year prior. Recently Murray showed that he’s happy in Tennessee and anticipates a big year.
“I do. It’s strictly downhill and that’s what I’ve been accustomed to my entire life,” Murray said on The Jim Rome Show. “Nothing against last year or what happened, it just didn’t work out, but I’m very excited about this upcoming season and looking forward to it.”
Of course it is very possible the one-two punch of Murray and Derrick Henry becomes lethal for the Titans. DeMarco is only two years removed from offensive player of the year in 2014 and there shouldn’t be any reason he can’t have a similar impact. After a career-low 3.6 yards per carry, Murray believes he feels rejuvenated for a big season.
“It’s hard to look back, but it was a great season two years ago and it definitely was a tough one last year,” Murray said. “But I think from both seasons, I took some positives things from it and learned and appreciated the game more and appreciated the time you have to play the sport.
“Obviously it was tough last year, and I’m just looking for a huge back bounce year this year. I don’t mean it individually but collectively as a team, and we know how hard we have to work to make our goals happen, and it’s definitely going to take a lot of hard work.”
From a fantasy side of things the Titans figure to be awful again limiting his fantasy value. There is also the Derrick Henry factor to consider as he will likely be the goal line guy in the red zone.
