From start to finish, the Philadelphia Eagles have been listed among the best teams throughout the 2022-2023 NFL Season. In the postseason, the Eagles have taken things up a notch. To be specific, they have outscored their opponents by 55 points in two games this postseason. Despite their dominance, one NFL star believes that the Eagles would have been stopped in their tracks had one injury hadn’t taken place.
Two weeks ago, San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Brock Purdy dropped back during the first half of the NFC Championship. Unfortunately, Purdy was sacked and the 49ers were stopped short on their first offensive series. Making matters worse, Purdy injured his elbow during the play and was sidelined throughout the majority of the next three quarters. Adding on, the team’s backup quarterback, Josh Johnson, suffered a concussion later on and was taken out of the game.
The Philadelphia Eagles went on to win the 2023 NFC Championship by more than three touchdowns. However, San Francisco 49ers offensive threat Deebo Samuel believes he and his teammates would be playing in Super Bowl LVII had Purdy remained healthy.
“Just look how well our defense was actually playing, keeping Jalen [Hurts] in the pocket, which he doesn’t like to do at all,” Samuel told Chris Russo of SiriusXM.
So the [Eagles] offense wasn’t doing anything. Our defense was doing what they were supposed to and I feel like if Brock was in as our quarterback and how our offense moves, I don’t think it would have been close.”
Unfortunately, the world will never know. Purdy will rehab from a UCL injury that will sideline him for six months. Meanwhile, the Eagles are prepared to play in Super Bowl LVII at 6:30 p.m. EST.
