San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has agreed to a three-year contract extension worth up to $73.5 million. The deal includes $58.1 million guaranteed. Earlier in the offseason the talented “do it all” wide receiver expressed interest in a contract extension or trade to another franchise. While the San Francisco 49ers made it clear they had no interest in trading him, they did begin negotiations with the wide receiver on an extension. Samuel will be the key to continuing the team’s success on offense with a new quarterback starting this season.

Last season with the San Francisco 49ers, Deebo Samuel caught 77 passes for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns on 121 targets. He also rushed the ball 59 times for 365 yards and eight touchdowns. Along with that, he completed one pass for 24 yards and a passing touchdown. He was the key player on the team and helped lead them to the 2022 NFC Championship game. Quarterback Trey Lance will have a go-to steady weapon in the air and for a first-year starter that is imperative. The team still believes they are Super Bowl contenders this upcoming season.

The wide receiver market this year in the NFL was chaotic with massive deals getting done along with the trades of Tyreek Hill, Amari Cooper, and Davante Adams. While several teams did reach out to attempt to trade for Deebo Samuel, the 49ers remained firm and turned those offers down. Now with a new deal, the team can fully focus on preparing for the upcoming NFL season.
