The Denver Nuggets are certainly not shy about their expectations. Their recent free agent acquisition Paul Millsap recently stated that he thinks this team’s ceiling is higher than that of his 60-win Atlanta Hawks.
Now, another big man on the roster has even loftier goals. At the Nuggets’ jersey unveiling ceremony, Darrell Arthur raised expectations of their season to an all-time high, claiming the team could compete with the elite opponents in the league:

Well, that’s…that’s certainly something.
The Nuggets are definitely an intriguing team to watch this season. Nikola Jokic looks like a star in the making and Millsap should be a seamless fit next to him in the frontcourt. The team has a lot of young talent looking to take the next step.
That said, they have nowhere near the amount of talent, consistency, and continuity that the Warriors have. Golden State destroyed the Cavaliers in five games in the NBA Finals, a team led by arguably the greatest player of all time. The Nuggets aren’t sniffing that.
Nevertheless, some expectations won’t hurt anyone and the Nuggets should go into the season with confidence that they can reach the postseason and make some noise.
